Labor Bengoshi Associate/Counsel
Job Description
A top-tier law firm is looking for a labor/employment Bengoshi associate/counsel to join its Tokyo office. This is a great opportunity to work on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters with a global team, international clients, and in an English speaking environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
- Collaborate with the labor team to support a wide range of international and domestic clients.
- Advise on employment policies, investigations, organizational restructuring, and employment-related claims, disputes, and litigation.
Qualifications by Level:
- Junior Associate (PQE 2-3):
- Must have a strong interest in labor/employment law.
- Partial experience in labor/employment matters is acceptable.
- Mid-Senior Associate (PQE 4-7):
- Must be capable of supporting partners and guiding junior associates.
- Able to work independently and handle client matters with minimal supervision.
- Senior Associate/Counsel Level (PQE 8+):
- Expected to manage client relationships and take on more autonomous responsibilities.
- Act as a key advisor and right-hand person for the labor team.
Requirements:
- Qualified as a Japanese Bengoshi
- Native Japanese, business-level English proficiency (not a must)
- Labor law experience: Preferred but not essential for junior candidates. More senior candidates must demonstrate stronger technical skills and experience in labor law.
